Terms of service

Last updated: 4 de agosto de 2026

What this is

MILITAR is a private, end-to-end encrypted messaging service. By using it you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it.

Access is by invitation

There is no open sign-up: you need a code from a member who sponsors you. Each member has a limited number of codes, and each code works only once. Sponsoring someone is an act of trust: invite the wrong person and your network suffers for it.

Your keys are yours, and that has consequences

The private key that decrypts your messages lives on your device and nowhere else. We hold no copy and cannot recover it.

If you lose your device without having backed up your key, you lose access to your history. This is not a clause to cover ourselves: it is a mathematical consequence of nobody else being able to read your messages. Make the backup the app offers you when you create your account, and keep it somewhere safe.

Acceptable use

MILITAR exists to protect users from those who attack their communications, not to give cover to those who commit crimes with them.

Encryption protects your privacy; it is not a free pass. You may not use MILITAR for unlawful activity, to harass or threaten anyone, to distribute abuse material, to attack the service's infrastructure or anyone else's, or to impersonate others.

What we can actually act on: we cannot read messages, so we do not moderate content. We can suspend accounts and withdraw invitations on signals that require reading nothing (system abuse, reports from other members, attacks on the infrastructure).

If you run a node

Anyone can stand up a node and offer it to the network. If you do, the server is yours and so is the responsibility for keeping it: its security, its availability and compliance with the law where it is hosted. A node only holds encrypted envelopes it cannot open.

We may remove from the public list any node that does not respond, behaves anomalously, or whose operator cannot be reached.

Plans and payments

Personal use is free. The business plan is advertised with an indicative price and online payment is NOT yet active: nothing is charged today. When charging is enabled, the specific terms will be published beforehand, and no price will apply without your express acceptance.

No warranties

The service is provided as is. We take care over security and publish how it works so you can verify it, but we cannot guarantee it will always be available or free of defects. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from use or inability to use the service.

Part of the network is sustained by nodes operated by third parties. Choosing which node holds your mailbox is your decision.

Ending the service or your account

You may stop using MILITAR whenever you wish and request deletion of your account. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms. Were we ever to shut the service down, we would give enough notice for you to keep what is yours.

Changes

These terms may change. The date above indicates the latest version, and relevant changes will be announced on the site.
